The ability to connect to students and confusion around our role were the highest areas of need identified in the Needs Assessment, along with supporting the basic needs and internet access for students and families. Followed by requests for providing support and sharing resources and lessons around SEL and Mental Health.

In response to this information, we have scheduled  a virtual “Coffee & Conversation Hour” next Wednesday, May 6th at 12:00pm.  This is a state-wide Professional Development Day and hoping that it works for those interested in joining.

During this time we will:

1. Check in with one another to see what is going well, challenges and suggestions on connecting with students and families and help in meeting their basic needs.

2. Share a few google sites and resources that have been created by local School Psychologist.

3. Share a RISPA Google Classroom that is being created in an attempt to organize resources from RI School Psychologists and School Social Workers that align to the areas identified as a need; and that also align to our professional practices to hopefully help us with role definition. ***We are asking for those that expressed that they are willing to share to upload resources to this classroom.  We can continue to evaluate the best means of communication and access for all.***
