Description for Part-time Coordinator/Supervisor of School Psychology Field Experiences and Training

The School Psychology Program within the Department of Psychology maintains two, overlapping but separate, professional training programs: a PhD program, and a MS program (a 3 year full-time program). This position is critical to the maintenance and further development of the program practica and internship components necessary to maintain current program accreditation by APA and approval by NASP.

The School Psychology Program is seeking an individual who is both a RI licensed psychologist and a RI certified school psychologist to provide supervision to graduate students in various practicum placements and internships (schools, hospitals, and other servicedelivery agencies) throughout Rhode Island, and in nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut. Compensation is equivalent to two per-course sections per semester, approximately $8K per semester. The position will begin in January 2019 (spring semester).

The following is a list of required duties: • Provide group supervision for all practicum and internship students in school psychology through weekly supervision meetings (i.e., PSY 670 and PSY 698). Note: a minimum of weekly supervision of all practicum experiences by a licensed psychologist is expected, as per APA Accreditation guidelines. • Maintain contact with all supervisors and sites during the semester, and visit each site at least one time during the semester (as per Rhode Island Department of Education guidelines). • Maintain a minimum of bi weekly contact by phone and e-mail to out-of-state supervisors and interns. • Conduct a survey of potential sites and supervisors in the region to determine interest in and appropriateness of placements in their settings. • Negotiate and develop new internships and practicum sites in Rhode Island. • Attend and participate in all School Psychology Program Faculty meetings. • Prevent and manage problems that can occur during practicum placements/internships, which may involve increased contact with supervisors/students as warranted. • Distribute, collect, and collate student evaluation forms at the end of the semester. • Coordinate appropriate practicum and internship placements for fall semester of 2019. • Assist students in the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) application process. • Distribute, collect, review, and sign student practicum and internship hours for the semester and coordinate appropriate storage of these materials with the Graduate Administrative Assistant. • Update Practicum and Internship Handbook

Please submit a letter of interest and a vitae to: Deena Mandes,  Department of Psychology, Chafee Hall, 142 Flagg Road, Kingston, RI 02881 or electronically to dmandes@uri.edu by December 1, 2018.
